Engagement reports

The CCG publishes detailed reports of all engagement activity undertaken. Reports include information about what took place and when, who took part or responded, the feedback we received, and how we intend to use that feedback.

Reports are available in our resources library.

Communications and engagement annual reports

Each year CCGs are required to publish an overview report explaining how they have engaged with patients and the public in line with their legal duties.

Engagement process

The legal requirement to involve is written into the CCG constitution and we have a lay member for public and patient involvement on our Governing Body.

We have set out our legal duties and our approach to engagement within a Communications and Engagement Strategy. The strategy also includes the principles we adopt when planning engagement activities.

The Patient Engagement Assurance Group has been developed to make sure that the CCG involves the right people and that legal duties are being met.

We provide staff with in-house training and guidance about engagement. This means that when commissioners are thinking about priorities, they are aware of the importance of involvement and engagement and of the CCG’s legal duties.

We follow some clear steps to make sure that engagement is rigorous, methodical and meaningful. These can include:

  • Completion of an engagement checklist and equality impact assessment
  • A review of existing public and patient feedback
  • The development of a communications and engagement plan
  • A range of engagement activities to gather patient and public insight
  • The publication of an engagement report of findings
  • Feedback about how the CCG has used patient and public views.
